Today we got to meet some PAWSOME students at Pine City Elementary School with Lynette (LuLu) from Rainbow of Hope Animal Rescue and thank them for their generous donation. While we waited for the students to come in, Amita checked out the hundreds of pairs of shoes the students collected.. She found an elegant heel and HAD to try it on…..PERFECT for a queen!!! We explained to the students what an enormous impact their generosity has from the animals here in the care of ROHAS to people from other countries, some of which will get their first pair of shoes EVER in their life. “WAIT…..WHAAAAAAAT????” said one student, shocked there were people who don’t have shoes. They were very happy to realize how helpful their seemingly small act of kindness was. We explained safely approaching dogs and how to keep their pets and themselves safe on Halloween, and THEN the most important part……..petting Amita. Amita thanked them all by doling out kisses and hugs. She also got to meet Willy Wonka’s oompa loompas who helped in the shoe collection.
